Hi My name is Garnet.
I live in Beckley, WV.
I am 67, a widow and have lived with diabeties for
most of my life. I am currently taking 44 units of insulin
2 times a day. Also Glucophage 2-1000 mgs a day. My sugar level is
7.5. Yrs ago my level was 12. I have imporved a lot of the yrs. :)
I am currently
suffering from a diabetic ulcer on my foot. It came on my foot in Janurary
2004 and todays date is July 2, 2004. I have went to my family dr and
my foot dr. They have gave me Bactroban Ointment, Collagenase Santyl Ointment,
I have been on a few oral antibotic, But My foot has not got any better
My Dr sent me to the wound care clinic in Charleston, WV, June 21, 2004.
He gave me Multidex Gel, Told me to use saline Solution on my foot. and
to bandage it up. They said no Bandaids or tape on my foot. I have to wrap
my foot. My daughter is the one that is dressing it everyday. He sent me
for tests on my foot. They did a doppler on my legs, they did blood tests,
a bone scan and x-rays of my foot. I am to return to Charleston June 28,
2004.
The Dr. Saw me and cut all the old skin off my sore, They went down to the
bone and scraped it. They did a culture of part of the bone he removed. There
was a lot of blood.. :( They gave me Levaquin (antibotic) to take until they
get the tests back on the bone scraping. Later they called and said I have
to start taking ampicillin. The infection was different than they thought.

I went to Charleston
to see my Dr. He cut all the dead skin off my ulcer. I have really bad
circulation in my legs and feet. I have to go see another dr about that.
I have to have stents put in the veins so my ulcer will heal. The way it
is now, my legs and feet dont get enough blood flow in them.
I went to my Heart Dr. He gave the ok for me to have the
stents put in my legs, feet and ankles. He said it would really help my
circulation.
